Now Hiring - General Laborers (Bridge & Highway Construction) Location: Johnston, Iowa (DSM & surrounding areas) Position Overview: We are seeking motivated General Laborers to assist in bridge and highway construction projects across Des Moines and surrounding areas, including the Huxley exit bridge. Worksites are inactive roads, ensuring a safe work environment. If you're eager to learn, willing to work hard, and ready to grow within a company, this is the perfect opportunity! Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare job sites by clearing debris and ensuring proper setup.
• Transport concrete from trucks to formed pads using a wheelbarrow.
• Assist foremen and supervisors with various construction tasks.
• Align and set forms to the correct pitch, depth, and alignment.
• Use saws to cut expansion joints and perform crack sealing.
• Smooth and level concrete using tools such as trowels, screeds, and floats.
• Tie off rebar and conduct prep/clean-up work as needed.
• Monitor weather conditions to ensure proper curing of concrete.
• Operate power vibrators to compact concrete and apply surface treatments.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in construction, concrete labor, carpentry, and demolition.

Previous tenure is key

• Strong work ethic—must be ready to work overtime hours when needed.

• Physically capable of handling labor-intensive tasks.
• Motivated to grow within the company and advance in construction roles.

• 0 to 44 miles = $0 per day
• 45 to 59 miles = $20 per day
• 60-99 miles = $30 per day OR Client-provided housing
• 100+ miles = $20 per day AND Client-provided housing
• Per diem policy is subject to change at any time at the Client’s discretion.

Work Environment:

• Projects are federally funded through IA DOT, with government-set wages.
• Typical project types range from small bridges to large interstate constructions.
• Monday-Friday schedule, potential overtime.
• Safety gear required—steel-toed boots, work gloves, and proper attire.
