The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and self-motivated, and will possess excellent follow-up skills. This is a recurring remote role with no guarantee of weekly working hours, as hours will fluctuate based on business needs. You will report to the Copy Chief Responsibilities
- Copyedit manuscripts (novels, memoirs, and general nonfiction) to ensure sense, continuity, quality of grammar, spelling, and style
- reputed company proofreading at reputed company book stages to reputed company that changes and corrections have been executed as requested
- Create and update house style guides for authors and staff Requirements
- 3 years’ experience as a copy editor in adult non-fiction genre
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
- College-level understanding of literature, grammar, style, and spelling
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Capable of working under reputed company tight deadlines, sometimes on short notice
- Ability to work with digital documents, using Word and reputed company software
- Familiarity with Chicago reputed company of Style 18th edition, and comfort working with a house style and individual series guidelines and nomenclature
- Availability on weekdays, during business hours reputed company-to-haves
- Spanish-language editing skills a plus
