What You'll Do

As a Customer System Engineer at blithequark, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our customers achieve their goals with our AI solution. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Guidance: Act as a trusted technical advisor, offering best practices and solutions to common challenges faced by customers.
  • Onboarding & Enablement: Guide customers through the onboarding process, ensuring they are fully prepared and proficient in using our solution. This includes conducting training sessions, developing enablement materials, and proactively identifying opportunities for customers to maximize their use of the platform.
  • Basic Implementation & setup: Provide hands-on support for initial solution setup within customer environments. This may involve configuring software and troubleshooting connectivity.
  • API and System Integrations: Support customers in integrating our solution with their existing systems, including providing guidance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues reported by customers, working closely with our engineering team to solve the hardest and most complex problems.
  • Feedback Loop: Gather customer feedback and insights, relaying them to our product and engineering teams to help drive continuous improvement of our solution.

What You'll Bring

To succeed in this role, you'll need to bring the following skills and qualifications:

  • Adaptable Technical Generalist: A strong background working with diverse technology stacks, demonstrating the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Experience with Complex Software / Hardware Systems and Interfaces: AI software at our level requires understanding the interplay between software and hardware behavior and performance, for GPUs, CPUs, and networking.
  • Coding Proficiency: A solid coding foundation. C++ and Python are must-haves. Demonstratable understanding of robust software development principles.
  • Container Orchestration: Proficiency with Kubernetes for deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: A genuine desire to help customers achieve their goals, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience in deep, durable customer-facing technical roles.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Adaptability: The ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Flexibility: while we generally commit to virtual setups, customer situations might require frequent travel or even temporary assignments within North America.

Bonus Points

While not required, the following skills and experiences will be highly valued:

  • Experience with other programming languages (e.g., Pytorch, Rust, Go).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with OpenStack and / or Slurm.
  • Familiarity with popular network operating systems and hardware (Arista, Cisco, Mellanox, etc) and network engineering (especially switching). Also, common AI / HPC networking protocols, RoCE and / or Infiniband.
  • Demonstratable experience with performance characterization and profiling, especially for processors, memory systems, and networks.
  • Experience with kernel debugging.
  • Experience with LLM deployments, even if at small scale.
