As a wholly-owned subsidiary, Matco Tools is a leading distributor of professional automotive equipment, tools, and toolboxes, operating across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. We're seeking a skilled and dedicated Customer Service Representative to join our team in a full-time remote capacity, working from home and supporting our franchise distributors, District Managers, Regional Managers, and commercial customers.

About the Role

As a Customer Service Representative at Matco Tools, you'll be the critical link between our sales field and corporate offices, providing top-notch support and ensuring seamless communication. Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional customer experiences, resolving queries, and driving sales growth. You'll work closely with our internal teams and external customers, utilizing your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to address complex issues and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist franchised distributor customers with automotive tool selection, toolbox selection, troubleshooting, pricing, and availability, as well as technical specifications and ordering.
  • Handle all inbound calls from internal and external sources, providing price and availability, part numbers, application assistance, troubleshooting, and basic credits.
  • Offer technical support concerning product information and specifications for Matco Tools and our suppliers' products.
  • Input orders using internal ordering software systems and engage with the Customer Service team to resolve open questions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with subject matter experts to resolve complex issues and provide solutions.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ year of call center experience or equivalent customer-facing experience.
  • The ability to work a fixed schedule: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM ET, Monday to Friday (no weekends).
  • Basic PC and keyboard skills, with effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • The capacity to interpret customer issues, troubleshoot, and provide resolutions while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Empathy and professionalism when dealing with customer concerns.
  • The ability to learn quickly, multitask, and adapt to a fast-paced office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:

  • On-the-job experience working with general automotive mechanics.
  • ASE certification, automotive experience, tool experience, or a related trade school degree.
