Joining as an Engineering Manager will allow you to have a real impact on how learners and practitioners engage with medical knowledge. You’ll play a key role in optimizing and expanding core features, while also exploring innovative opportunities that push the boundaries of medical reference tools. Your work will directly support users in navigating, understanding, and applying knowledge efficiently, helping them make informed decisions under time pressure. You will:

• Lead an agile engineering team, balancing technical leadership with people management to drive team performance and delivery

• Drive technical excellence by reviewing pull requests, contributing to architecture discussions, and writing code when needed to unblock the team

• Grow and support engineers through mentorship, coaching, and career development, helping them reach their full potential

• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, feedback, and continuous improvement within the team and broader organization

• Ensure high engineering standards by collaborating closely with Product and Design teams to deliver quality solutions

• Partner with other Engineering Managers and leadership to align team execution with AMBOSS' strategic goals

You bring

• Experience as a technical lead or engineering manager in a startup/scaleup environment with proven ability to scale teams and processes

• Strong technical background with hands-on experience in backend and frontend development and willingness to stay close to technology (approx. 30–40% hands-on through technical discussions, reviews, or prototyping)

• Experience in code reviews, architecture discussions, and system design with deep understanding of modern technologies (React, Go, Python)

• Strong communication skills and ability to align diverse stakeholders across different teams and departments

• Comfort taking on product management aspects, such as prioritization, scoping, and roadmap discussions, in close collaboration with a domain expert (medical editor)

• Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineers, helping them grow professionally while maintaining team productivity
