Customs Specialist - Evening Shift Pattern (Remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customs Specialist to join our remote team. As a Customs Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant customs entries for cargo arriving and leaving through UK ports. You will work independently and as part of a team to verify data, identify errors, and provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete and input customs entries via EDI systems for cargo arriving and leaving through UK ports
• Verify data with source documents, check for accuracy, and re-enter data in verification format to detect errors
• Provide excellent customer service and keep customers informed on entry completion and confirmation of VAT and duty costs
• Identify and raise any issues causing cargo to be delayed through customs clearance documentation errors
• Generate and complete VAT and Duty invoices for which the customer is liable

Requirements:

• Previous experience in freight forwarding/customs
• Accuracy and attention to detail is crucial
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to work on your own initiative
• Excellent communication skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to constantly changing conditions
• CDS exposure and ability to submit declarations based on the new HMRC system
• Understanding of rules of origin and preference of goods
• Knowledge of governing customs and compliance regulations
• E-Customs Software knowledge is beneficial
• Efficient with Microsoft Office applications - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
