Internationalization Machine Learning Engineer, Natural Language Generation (NLG)

About the position The position focuses on enhancing the text generation capabilities for Apple platforms, particularly through internationalization of generative models. The role involves developing innovative natural language processing (NLP) solutions that improve user interaction across various languages, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for a global audience. The team is dedicated to creating on-device NLP solutions that enhance the overall system experience for users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Work on language expansion of advanced text generation technologies such as context-augmented text rewriting and safety-controlled text composition.

• Apply NLP techniques and linguistic knowledge to data engineering and ML training to enhance the input experience for Apple customers.

• Seek scalable and innovative approaches for international languages to continually update the input experience.

• Collaborate with various teams, including NLP, Localization, SIML, AIML, and Human Interface, to address design and engineering challenges.

Requirements

• Strong Python skills.

,

• Proficiency in one of the East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) or Southeast Asian languages (Thai, Burmese, etc.).

• Strong fundamentals in ML and NLP algorithms, including tokenization.

,

• Strong programming and communication skills.

• MS in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with tokenizer libraries and Unicode.

• Experience with prompt engineering for international languages.

• Understanding of data structures and common NLP algorithms.

• Proficiency in a C-like dialect (Java, C, C++, Objective-C, Swift, etc.).

• Ph.D. or experience in the industry.
