Experienced General Surgery Coder - Part time remote

Iris Health is a medical billing company based out of Birmingham, AL. We are looking for an experienced General Surgery coder to work part time or as an independent contractor. This is a work-from-home position. Must be available for regular meetings with physician and billers. Responsibilities • Pull/review medical records from clinical or hospital EMR • Timely completion of all coding, data/charge entry and abstracting • Obtain missing information from providers and clinical staff members • Ensure revenue capture and generation are at the highest possible level • Review denials/rejections against codes and fix them • Educate clients/physicians on coding guidelines, proper documentation techniques, payer guidelines, prior authorization requirements by phone calls if needed Ideal traits • organized & works under deadlines • exceptional self-awareness and communication skills which build trust • works independently with minimal supervision/oversight • tech-savvy to work multiple systems Requirements • Have minimum of 3 years of experience coding surgeries • Surgery knowledge required; ex: hernia repair, debridement, mastectomy, panniculectomy, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy • Proficient in popular EMR & Excel - eClinicalWorks knowledge is a plus! Compensation • Hourly rates between $20-30/hour Job Type: Part-time Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 4 per week Schedule: • Monday to Friday • Weekends as needed Experience: • surgery coding: 2 years (Required) • eClinicalWorks: 1 year (Preferred) Work Location: Remote Apply Job!
