Overview: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Desktop Engineer to join M&T Bank. In this role, you will be part of the team responsible for the Endpoint Systems and Software Delivery of all endpoints throughout the bank. This includes the selection of all Hardware (Laptops, Desktops, Monitors & Accessories) and Operating Systems used in the environment. This team provides engineering leadership overseeing the design, migration, maintenance, and monitoring of the existing and new solutions. A thorough understanding of end user computing environments including Windows 10, Windows 11, Mac, security, configuration, and hybrid connectivity between on premise systems and the cloud environment is required. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical skills and leadership along with an ability to facilitate effective communication and collaboration with other internal technical teams. Cool things you will be directly involved with: • The evaluation of end user hardware including Laptops, Desktops, Monitors and other associated Accessories. • Serve as technical lead on programs or projects that are assigned by management. • Research, analyze, evaluate and provide recommendations to management on future technology direction. Primary Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain endpoint policies and configurations to provide a secure and functional solutions for the approximately 40,000 end user devices across the organization. • Participate in the testing and evaluation of new end user hardware & software technologies. • Provide technical leadership to the M&T Desktop Engineering Team for self-elevation and application delivery. • Routine collaboration with other M&T Bank internal technical teams responsible for the configuration, security, maintenance, and support of the Desktop Environment. • Produce and maintain desktop standards, knowledge base, operating procedures, guidelines and system documentation. • Work in an environment liaising with multiple teams to resolve issues, using incident and problem management processes. • Troubleshoot hardware and application configurations as it relates to workstation performance and end user experience. • Build automation into daily processes to improve the ease of doing business. • Manage service escalation to resolution and identify continuous improvement opportunities as appropriate. • Provide hands-on end user support, administration, installation and issue resolution. • Perform moderate to complex system administration tasks across supported technology. Education and Experience Required: Combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management and/or architecture Education and Experience Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering 5+ years relevant experience with Windows environment (Mac OS a plus) Experience with computing, topologies, scripting, and operating systems. Working knowledge of office automation products and computer peripherals Strong collaboration with technology partners. The pay range for this position is $93,581.10 - $155,968.51 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
