Jr. Software Engineer

Honda Racing Corporation, USA, a leader in motorsports racing is seeking a highly organized and detailed oriented Jr. Software Engineer to join its Data Analytics Group in Santa Clarita, California (North Los Angeles Area). The primary focus of the Data Analytics group is to support HRC’s engineering efforts by developing in-house software and processes to aid in the collection, storage, processing and analysis of measurement and metadata from a multitude of sources, with the goal of improving the ease, speed, and accuracy with which we make data-based engineering decisions. Key Responsibilities: • Convert abstract requests for data analysis software solutions into concrete, full-stack implementations while adhering to SWE best practices. • Produce material based on stakeholder requests outlining expected project outcomes and timeline. Propose and implement new methods of data analysis and visualization. • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software. Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and share knowledge. Support and develop existing processes to improve code quality, software robustness or flexibility, improve software efficiency and efficacy, or increase insight gained from data analytics software products. • Create and maintain software documentation, document and report project and personal status. Qualifications: BS degree in Computer Science or other applicable field, or 5 years of similar work experience. Minimum Experience 1-3 years of experience using programming, mathematical or statistical methods to gain insight to data or improve efficiency. Previous experience managing and storing data. Previous technical report writing experience. Previous project management experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a diverse environment. Experience with data collection systems or motorsport is a plus. • Proficiency in full-stack software development utilizing modern software stacks and techniques • Proficiency with modern data engineering techniques and technologies such as Apache Kafka and Spark • Experience with object-oriented software design principles • Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular • Understanding of RESTful services and APIs - Experience with software used for data analysis and visualization (Python, MatLab, Power Bi/ Tableau, Databricks) • Experience with cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google) - Experience with software version control techniques - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks • Experience with C#/.NET, Python and TypeScript preferred - Experience with database technologies such as MSSQL, CosmosDB and MariaDB preferred An Equal Opportunity-Affirmative Action Employer.
