Senior MS Entra ID / Active Directory Engineer

Mogra.ai is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior MS Entra ID / Active Directory Architect to join our team on a contractual/freelance basis. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM), domain controllers, and Azure Entra ID, with a strong focus on migrating legacy IaaS Active Directory environments to Azure Entra ID. This role will be pivotal in driving complex migration projects while ensuring security, efficiency, and scalability in cloud environments. The selected candidate will work on cutting-edge cloud technologies and be responsible for leading and executing migrations, enabling seamless transitions from on-premises Active Directory to Azure Entra ID, and optimizing identity management strategies. Key Responsibilities: • Lead migration projects focused on transitioning from IaaS-based Active Directory environments to Azure Entra ID, ensuring minimal disruption and seamless transitions for enterprise clients. • Design, implement, and manage Azure Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) solutions to meet enterprise-level IAM needs. • Oversee and manage domain controllers while ensuring secure, efficient, and optimized operations within hybrid environments. • Drive end-to-end migration strategy for identity, licenses, and cloud solutions from on-premises to Azure Entra ID. • Manage license provisioning for Microsoft services, ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and streamlined management during migration. • Develop and enforce IAM policies such as role-based access control (RBAC), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and conditional access to enhance security post-migration. • Conduct assessments and provide strategic recommendations for IAM and security improvements in Azure environments. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex identity and access issues across hybrid IT environments, including on-premises Active Directory and Azure Entra ID integration. • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver tailored Azure Entra ID and Active Directory migration solutions that align with business objectives. • Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and best practices in Azure Entra ID, IAM, and cloud migrations. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of hands-on experience in IAM, Azure Entra ID (Azure AD), and domain controller management, with a strong background in managing Active Directory migrations to cloud-based environments. • Proven track record of leading migration projects involving identity management, Active Directory, licenses, and cloud platforms. • Deep knowledge of authentication protocols such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect. • Experience managing license allocations for Microsoft 365 or similar platforms, particularly during migration to Azure-based environments. • Strong understanding of hybrid environments, including integration of Azure Entra ID with on-premises Active Directory. • Proficiency in PowerShell and scripting for automation and administration of Azure environments. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex technical challenges in cloud-based identity solutions. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clients. Preferred Qualifications: • Microsoft certifications such as AZ-305, AZ-500, or MS-500. • Experience with large-scale cloud migrations or identity consolidation projects, especially from legacy on-premises systems to Azure Entra ID. • Knowledge of governance, compliance standards, and best practices for cloud identity and access management.
