Systems Principal Engineer - Networking (Remote)

About the position The Systems Principal Engineer - Networking role at CareFirst involves managing, defining, designing, and developing system requirements for IT systems engineering. The position requires performing trade-off analyses, assessing architecture, and resolving program support deficiencies. The engineer will lead systems engineering projects, develop risk management plans, and ensure the reliability of software and systems by collaborating with network staff. This role also includes mentoring team members and maintaining computer systems relevant to supported applications. Responsibilities • Manage and define system requirements and perform trade-off analyses. , • Assess architecture and resolve program support deficiencies. , • Conduct independent technical investigations in systems design. , • Develop and implement risk and opportunity management plans. , • Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of systems engineering projects. , • Troubleshoot incidents and support root cause analysis. , • Manage customer and stakeholder needs and perform functional analysis. , • Mentor junior and senior team members. , • Install, tune, upgrade, and maintain computer systems relevant to supported applications. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or 4 additional years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree. , • 10 years of relevant IT systems engineering experience. , • Knowledge of programming languages and web-based technologies. , • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. , • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Nice-to-haves • ITIL Foundations v3 certification within 180 days preferred.
