HL7 FHIR SME Healthcare (Remote US role)

About the position The HL7 FHIR Subject Matter Expert (SME) position at BPO Recruit is a remote role focused on healthcare data interoperability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building and operationalizing data processing systems, particularly in the healthcare sector. This role requires a deep understanding of HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and the ability to work with various healthcare data formats, including proprietary and industry-standard formats such as HL7. The SME will be responsible for performing data mapping exercises to transition clinical data from source systems to the FHIR data model, ensuring that data standards such as SNOMED CT, RXNorm, LOINC, UCUM, ICD, CPT, and CVX are correctly implemented. In addition to technical skills, the candidate must possess strong analytical abilities to assess the quality and conformance of clinical data. This includes identifying issues related to data quality and proposing solutions to enhance data integrity. The role also involves soliciting and clarifying business-level requirements, analyzing data requirements, and designing performance and quality reports for FHIR products. A solid foundation in SQL is essential for conducting data analysis, and familiarity with data platforms such as Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and Operational Data Stores (ODS) is required. Responsibilities • Build and operationalize data processing systems for healthcare data. , • Perform data mapping exercises for clinical data to FHIR data model. , • Understand and work with healthcare data in proprietary and industry-standard formats. , • Implement data standards such as SNOMED CT, RXNorm, LOINC, UCUM, ICD, CPT, CVX. , • Identify and improve the quality of clinical data. , • Solicit and clarify business-level requirements and analyze data requirements. , • Design and monitor performance and quality reports for FHIR products. , • Utilize SQL for data analysis and profiling. , • Work with data platforms including Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and ODS. Requirements • 5+ years of hands-on experience in building and operationalizing data processing systems. , • 3+ years of experience with HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). , • Strong SQL experience for data analysis. , • Deep understanding of FHIR and EHR standards. , • Experience working with clinical data. Nice-to-haves • GCP (Google Cloud Platform) experience. , • 5+ years of experience working with healthcare/clinical data. , • Data analysis and data mapping skills. , • Experience with Python. , • Familiarity with Cloud Data flow/Data proc/Function. , • Experience with Whistle map SDK.
