About the position The Tutor is responsible for assisting students in meeting their educational goals and aspirations through positive educational support and direct tutoring. This role involves enhancing study skills and facilitating the understanding of educational concepts. Tutors will conduct sessions that promote critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, whether in individual, group, virtual, or in-person settings. The position requires creating lesson plans tailored to students' ability levels, learning styles, grade levels, curriculum, and experiences. In accordance with individual educational goals, the Tutor will provide training and assistance to ensure growth toward these goals. This includes listening to and responding to the needs of students, parents/guardians, and school districts. The Tutor will assist students in developing and maintaining a structured study plan, improving self-confidence in the academic environment, and developing effective coping skills for academic-related anxiety. Additionally, the Tutor will help students access community resources that assist with educational and academic goals, ultimately guiding them to realize their educational and vocational aspirations. The Tutor will utilize state-specific core curriculum content standards in every tutoring session and document progress appropriately. They are also expected to complete all mandated supervision and training as required, advocate for students in all situations, and may be requested to have bilingual abilities. The role requires the ability to work as a member of a team, complete tasks as instructed, be receptive to new ideas, and creatively solve problems, while also being able to work autonomously and set personal work goals.
