Position Summary The Population Health Innovation Lab (PHIL) is a Public Health Institute (PHI) program focused on building groups’ capacity to work together to transform their communities into healthier environments. PHI is dedicated to promoting health, well-being, and equity throughout California, across the nation, and around the world. PHI’s mission is to advance wellbeing and health equity with communities around the world. The mission of the Population Health Innovation Lab is to design, catalyze, and accelerate innovative approaches that advance health, well-being, and equity. The Health Educator IV position is intended to be a primary trainer and planner for PHIL Collective offerings. The PHIL Collective is a new line of work within PHIL that supports individuals and communities dedicated to improving health, well-being, and equity by collaborating with diverse partners. Staff supporting the PHIL Collective work hand-in-hand with PHIL’s other focus areas (research and administration). This position will report to the Director of the PHIL Collective. The primary responsibility of the Health Educator IV will be to aid the PHIL Collective Director in development and delivery of virtual and in-person offerings for a variety of target audiences based on PHIL’s Powering Change curriculum and learnings from other work. Tasks include strategic development, planning, implementation, operation oversight, and evaluation of offerings. The Health Educator IV will work with a wide range of stakeholders to include PHIL staff, funders, local health departments, community-based organizations, government officials, educators, and more. This is a remote, part-time 80% FTE position with a schedule of 32 hours per week. This is a time-limited position with an expected end date of July 31, 2025. At PHI, a time-limited position is defined as regular employment with an expected end date of no more than one year from the beginning of the position. In rare circumstances, time-limited positions may be extended to a maximum total length of up to eighteen (18) months from the start of the employee’s original time-limited position. This fully remote position does not require the incumbent to be in Pacific Time Zone, but the incumbent is required to have an overlap with other collaborating colleagues in working hours from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Pacific Time on the scheduled workdays. This position may require occasional travel for delivery of trainings and workshops across different states in the U.S. a couple of times a year. Full salary range for this position: $77,625 to $112,620 per year based on 100% FTE. The typical hiring range for this position is from $62,100 (minimum) to $76,098 (midpoint), based on 80% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Assess education needs of the PHIL Collective target audiences. • Provide recommendations to the PHIL Collective annual learning agenda to support meeting needs of key target audiences. • Develop and disseminate written educational and informational materials related to PHIL Collective offerings. • Prepare and deliver educational web discussions, workshops, conferences, and other types of trainings. • Develop and deliver engaging virtual and in-person exercises to build client skills. • Assist with development of marketing materials for offerings to include web content, social media posts, and information sessions. • Assist with publications, meetings, surveys development, and evaluations. • Provide individualized support and consultation to stakeholders during trainings and as needed. • Maintain effective communication with clients and partners. • Participate in ongoing communication with PHIL staff and training leads to sense needs and effectively meet them through our work. • Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • 7 years of relevant experience in health, training, public policy, heath education or other related field. • Bachelor’s degree required, or substitute with four additional years of related experience. Other Qualifications • Ability to work independently and in teams to plan, deliver, evaluate, and improve trainings. • Knowledge of facilitation methods—particularly for adult learnings. • Experience in education, public health, health education, or related field. • Experience with virtual learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom). • Skilled at engaging community members and providing relevant and appropriate training, technical assistance, and program planning support services. • Skilled at building relationships among and across diverse communities. • Skilled at facilitating large meetings; visioning, planning and assessment sessions; and small group instruction. • Ability to develop and adapt training and assessment tools. • Ability to create an atmosphere in which individuals are comfortable learning and sharing. • Skilled in visual design, especially as relates to training, assessment, and marketing tools as well as event materials. • Ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with diverse groups, and interact effectively with co-workers, personnel in partner agencies, and other external stakeholders. • Excellent writing, analytic and presentation skills, including for professional, business, and low literacy audiences. • Ability to think both strategically and operationally. • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. • Excellent organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines, both prescribed and self-imposed. • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office applications, and ability to stay current with emerging technology. • Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
