Remote Online Instructor for American Sign Language (ASL)

Job Overview We are seeking passionate and committed American Sign Language (ASL) instructors to deliver engaging online courses to middle and high school students. Our learners, typically aged 12-18, are acquiring ASL to meet their high school World Language requirements. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work with students at various proficiency levels, from beginners to more advanced ASL learners. Key Responsibilities • Conduct interactive, one-on-one ASL lessons online utilizing Microsoft Teams. • Assign, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback on homework, projects, and other coursework. • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate grading records. • Cultivate a positive and engaging educational environment that promotes student success. • Create a welcoming atmosphere where all students feel respected and valued. • Design customized lesson plans that align with ACTFL Can-Do Statements, emphasizing practical communication scenarios. • Employ your creativity to develop and implement lessons, utilizing available resources but primarily focusing on your original materials. • Prioritize Project-Based Learning, ensuring a focus on meaningful, hands-on experiences without traditional quizzes, tests, or exams. Required Skills • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience teaching ASL, preferably in an online or educational setting. • ASL interpreting abilities are a plus. • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. • Proficiency with technology and familiarity with Microsoft Office. • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork. • A true passion for teaching ASL and engaging with young learners. • A creative and student-focused pedagogical style.
