We are currently seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to provide 1:1 remote interpretation services for a middle school student in North Carolina. If you’re passionate about making a difference in a student’s educational experience, this role is for you. Role Summary: As a Remote Sign Language Interpreter, you will provide essential interpretation services to support a middle school student who is deaf or hard of hearing. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate clear communication between the student and their teachers, enabling the student to fully participate in their educational activities from a remote setting. Key Responsibilities: • Offer real-time sign language interpretation for classroom instruction, assignments, and any additional educational activities. • Work closely with the student’s teachers and school staff to understand the curriculum and specific needs of the student. • Ensure accurate and effective communication to support the student’s academic progress and engagement. • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions. • Use reliable technology and a stable internet connection to deliver consistent and high-quality remote interpretation services. Qualifications: • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID, NIC) or equivalent credential. • Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with middle school students. • Proficiency in interpreting academic content and specialized terminology. • Strong independent work skills and the ability to manage a remote work environment effectively. • Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working with middle school students or in a similar educational context. • Familiarity with educational strategies and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
