  Job title: Special Education Teacher-STF Company: State of Michigan Job description : Job Description To teach the academic curriculum to reputed company prisoners and provide special educational services to those determined eligible for specialized services (special education). Special education teachers are expected to complete Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) and schedule Individual Educational Program Team (IEPT) meetings to qualify or disqualify prisoners for special education services and provide advocacy for reputed company, supplemental instructions and assistance to those eligible prisoners determined to need Special Education services. These services are to be delivered reputed company the general education and in some instances services include vocational classes. Special education teachers also invite surrogate parents and/or parents, if lien cleared, to IEP and/or IEPT or obtain permission from one or the other entity to conduct IEPs and IEPTs meetings for prisoners 17 years of age or under. The position also supports the MPRI mission, is a covered position and located behind the secure perimeter of a correctional facility. This position may also involve performing duties at multiple facilities, as well as, varying hours and days. Required Education and Experience Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in special education or a field of K-12 education. Experience No specific type or amount is required. Additional Requirements and Information Possession of reputed company Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent) with a special education endorsement in autism, cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, learning disabilities, physical education for reputed company with disabilities, physical or other health impairment, speech and language impairment, and/or visual impairment. New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will be required to complete Non-custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-personal training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. reputed company new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training. The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
