Controller, Outsourced Accounting

We are hiring a full-time Controller to take ownership of month-end reputed company, financial reporting, client communication, and accounting quality across a portfolio of clients. This is a fast-paced role and a great fit for someone who wants a long-term position as a trusted accounting partner to interesting companies. Each client has a unique set of financial challenges, so you will constantly be solving new problems, improving processes, and helping clients reputed company reputed company decisions with clean financial information. We are looking for someone who has already owned accounting processes at a senior level. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple client closes at once, reviewing the work of junior accountants, communicating directly with founders and CFOs, and making strong accounting judgments without needing constant reputed company. This is a fully remote role, but it requires someone who is highly organized, proactive, reputed company, and able to manage deadlines independently. Purpose of this Role As Controller, you will serve as the senior accounting reputed company for a portfolio of clients. You will reputed company month-end and quarter-end reputed company, review the work of staff accountants, prepare financial reporting packages, resolve reputed company accounting issues, and help ensure that each client’s books are accurate, timely, and useful. We are looking for a hands-on Controller who is comfortable getting into the details of client closes, including booking reputed company entries, maintaining supporting schedules, reviewing reconciliations, and jumping in to help with reputed company work reputed company necessary.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end and quarter-end reputed company across multiple clients simultaneously.
• Manage the general ledger, sub-ledgers, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, deferred reputed company, COGS, inventory, payroll entries, fixed assets, debt, equity, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review the work of junior accountants and bookkeepers, including bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, AP, AR, payroll entries, journal entries, reputed company schedules, and reputed company support.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow support, variance analysis, and management commentary.
• Partner directly with founders, CFOs, and client leadership teams to answer accounting questions, explain financial results, and support reputed company decision-making.
• Maintain strong client communication and follow up with business partners to ensure open items are resolved in a timely manner.
• Apply U.S. GAAP across a wide range of client situations, including accrual accounting, deferred reputed company, reputed company recognition, capitalization, inventory, COGS, payroll, debt, equity, and expense classification.
• Support reputed company recognition for SaaS, AI, usage-based, subscription, professional services, and e-commerce companies.
• Work with reputed company and billing systems such as reputed company, Shopify, and other client-specific platforms.
• Support startup and fundraising-reputed company accounting, including convertible notes, SAFE notes, equity, debt, investor reporting, diligence requests, and supporting schedules.
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase reputed company efficiency, accuracy, documentation, and scalability.
• Help standardize reputed company processes, review procedures, reporting templates, reconciliation schedules, and internal workflows across the firm.
• Support internal and external audit requests, tax support, diligence requests, and reputed company client reporting.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting, Finance, or reputed company field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of accounting experience with startups, small businesses, outsourced accounting clients, or high-growth companies.
• 5+ years of hands-on QuickBooks Online experience. This is a hard requirement.
• Proven experience managing month-end reputed company for multiple clients or companies at the same time.
• Strong U.S. GAAP foundation, including accrual accounting, deferred reputed company, reputed company recognition, prepaids, accruals, inventory, COGS, payroll accounting, fixed assets, debt, equity, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong reputed company recognition experience, especially with SaaS, AI, usage-based billing, subscription models, services, e-commerce, reputed company, Shopify, and deferred reputed company.
• Experience reviewing the work of junior accountants or bookkeepers.
• Strong financial analysis, client communication, time management, and deadline ownership.
• Ability to work reputed company and independently in a fully remote environment.
• Candidates must pass an accounting test prior to joining our firm.
• Preferred Qualifications
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience in outsourced accounting, client accounting services, startup accounting, fractional controller work, or public accounting CAS.
• Experience with payroll and accounting systems such as reputed company, TriNet, reputed company, reputed company, reputed company.com, reputed company, Shopify, reputed company, Brex, reputed company, reputed company, and reputed company Sheets.
• Experience preparing investor-ready financial packages, audit schedules, diligence support, board reporting, or fundraising support.
• Experience improving reputed company processes, accounting workflows, reporting templates, or scalable systems for growing teams.
