Position Overview

The Remote Customer Retention Specialist at arenaflex plays a central role in preserving and strengthening relationships with our existing policyholders. The primary mission of this position is to engage with current customers who are considering canceling their policies, understand their concerns, and effectively communicate the value, benefits, and importance of maintaining their life insurance coverage. This is not just a customer service job—it is a consultative sales role where your ability to listen actively, empathize genuinely, and present compelling solutions will directly impact both customer satisfaction and company success.

As a part-time team member, you will work remotely while receiving comprehensive paid training during the first four weeks of employment. This training will fully prepare you to handle high-volume call interactions, navigate our proprietary systems, and master the art of consultative retention selling.

Key Responsibilities

  • High-Volume Call Management: Handle an average of 90+ calls per day in a fast-paced call center environment, balancing both inbound and outbound communications with policyholders.
  • Policyholder Retention Conversations: Engage with existing customers who have expressed intent to cancel their policies, addressing objections and providing thoughtful, personalized responses.
  • Consultative Benefit Reselling: Clearly articulate and resell the value of life insurance benefits, helping customers understand the long-term importance of maintaining continuous coverage for themselves and their families.
  • Cancellation Request Processing: Service legitimate cancellation requests with professionalism and empathy, while exhaustively exploring retention opportunities before finalizing any cancellations.
  • Customer Needs Assessment: Ensure that every customer interaction addresses the policyholder's unique concerns, questions, and circumstances to deliver a tailored and satisfactory experience.
  • Performance Standards Compliance: Consistently meet or exceed department benchmarks for call volume, average handle time, quality assurance scores, and time management metrics.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document all customer interactions, retention outcomes, and policy modifications in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current on product knowledge, industry regulations, and best practices in customer retention to maintain expertise and effectiveness.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

Experience and Education

  • Contact Center Background: Minimum of 1+ years of work experience in a high-volume contact center environment, receptionist role, or any position requiring frequent daily phone communication. This is a strict requirement.
  • Retention, Sales, or Collections Experience: At least 6 months of experience in customer retention, sales, or collections is required.
  • Educational Background: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older.

Technical and Home Office Requirements

  • Remote Work Capability: While remote experience is strongly preferred, it is not mandatory. However, candidates must be equipped to succeed in a home-based work environment.
  • Internet Connectivity: A reliable, hard-wired internet connection is required, with minimum speeds of 20 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload.
  • Smartphone Requirement: A smartphone is required to access the company's VPN for secure system logins.
  • Equipment Provided: All other necessary equipment, including computer hardware and accessories, will be provided by arenaflex.
  • Workplace Safety: Candidates must have or be willing to obtain a fire extinguisher for their home office, as part of the company's commitment to workplace safety.
  • Professional Environment: A quiet, distraction-free, and professional home workspace is essential for maintaining call quality and productivity standards.

Skills and Competencies

  • Communication Excellence: Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Typing Proficiency: Minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute.
  • Customer Service Mastery: Superior customer service skills characterized by friendliness, efficiency, active listening, and genuine empathy.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid working knowledge of computer operations, keyboard shortcuts, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Multitasking Ability: Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks, screens, and priorities simultaneously without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
  • Composure Under Pressure: Proven ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities and time management skills to balance call volume, documentation, and performance metrics.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong detail orientation to ensure accuracy in policy information, customer records, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior insurance industry experience is considered a plus but is not a requirement.
  • Sales experience is highly valued but not mandatory.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, though bilingualism is not required.

To maintain ethical business practices and protect the interests of all parties involved, arenaflex is unable to hire candidates who hold an active life and/or health insurance license and plan to work for another insurance agency outside of this position. This policy prevents potential conflicts of interest and ensures full dedication to our policyholders.

Training and Onboarding

All new hires will participate in a comprehensive paid training program during the first four weeks of employment. Training takes place from Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, and candidates will train alongside full-time employees to gain a complete understanding of our systems, processes, products, and customer service standards. This immersive training experience ensures every team member feels confident and prepared before transitioning to their regular schedule.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Pay

This part-time position offers a competitive base pay rate of $15.89 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Performance Bonus Opportunity

As a retention specialist, you will be eligible to earn prorated commission of up to an additional $6.00 per hour, based on your individual performance in successfully conserving policies. Your dedication and effectiveness directly translate into enhanced earning potential.

Schedule and Hours of Operation

Post-Training Schedule

Once training is complete, your regular part-time schedule will be Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM CST.

Hours of Operation

  • Monday through Friday: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM CST
  • Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST
  • Closed on Sundays
  • One scheduled day off during the week
