[Remote] Patient Account Representative

They are seeking a Patient Account Representative responsible for verifying insurance coverage, managing patient accounts, and ensuring accurate claims submission to insurance providers.

Responsibilities

  • Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer
  • Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients
  • Pursue development of new business with potential referral sources and patients
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate coverage information prior to service
  • Obtain and track insurance pre-authorizations in a timely manner
  • Explain benefits and out-of-pocket costs to patients, including co-pays, deductibles, and coverage limits
  • Collect co-pays and process patient payments while maintaining accurate account records
  • Submit clean and compliant claims to insurance carriers and follow up on claim status as needed using our billing system
  • Maintain and update patient accounts with detailed and accurate documentation
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding account status and requirements
  • Receive ongoing training and demonstrate a strong understanding of the company’s billing system to ensure accurate data entry, claim submission, and account management
  • Stay up to date with insurance guidelines, payer policies, and company procedures to maintain compliance and efficiency
  • Participate in company committees when requested
  • Participate in in-service education programs provided by the company
  • Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills

  • Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records
  • Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions
  • Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and use of the internet, as well as word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail
