The Opportunity

As our Senior Conversational AI Chatbot Developer, you will lead the end-to-end development of an AI-driven chatbot that will serve as the digital concierge for thousands of guests booking vacation rentals through arenaflex. The chatbot will be deeply integrated with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger — two of the most widely used messaging platforms in the world — and will be designed to deliver conversational quality and accuracy on par with industry-leading large language models such as ChatGPT.

This is not a simple FAQ bot project. You will be architecting a sophisticated, AI-powered assistant capable of understanding context, handling multi-turn conversations, retrieving property-specific data, and gracefully escalating to human agents when necessary. You will collaborate with our operations, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure the chatbot reflects the warm, professional, and trustworthy voice of arenaflex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop a multi-platform chatbot for WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger that integrates seamlessly with arenaflex's vacation rental booking system, property management database, and customer support workflows.
  • Design conversational flows and natural language understanding (NLU) models that enable the chatbot to comprehend guest queries ranging from booking availability and pricing to property amenities, cancellation policies, and local recommendations.
  • Integrate advanced AI and large language model (LLM) capabilities — comparable to ChatGPT — to ensure the bot delivers contextually accurate, human-like responses with a high degree of fluency and empathy.
  • Build and maintain backend APIs and webhook integrations with WhatsApp Business API, Facebook Messenger Platform, and internal property management systems to enable real-time data exchange and automated responses.
  • Train, fine-tune, and continuously improve the chatbot's knowledge base using real conversation data, guest feedback, and evolving business needs to enhance response quality over time.
  • Implement intelligent escalation logic that detects when a query exceeds the chatbot's capabilities and smoothly hands off the conversation to a human support representative, preserving full conversation context.
  • Ensure scalability, security, and reliability of the chatbot infrastructure to handle high volumes of concurrent conversations across multiple time zones and languages.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation, user guides, and internal training materials so the arenaflex team can independently manage, update, and expand the chatbot's knowledge base after deployment.
  • Monitor performance metrics such as response accuracy, resolution rate, customer satisfaction scores, and conversation drop-off rates, and use those insights to drive ongoing optimization.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in conversational AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, and messaging platform APIs, and proactively recommend new capabilities that can elevate the arenaflex guest experience.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven professional experience in chatbot development, with a strong portfolio showcasing deployments on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or similar messaging platforms.
  • Deep familiarity with AI and natural language processing technologies, including transformer-based models, large language models (LLMs), and conversational AI frameworks such as Dialogflow, Rasa, Microsoft Bot Framework, or custom-built solutions.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python, Node.js, or similar languages commonly used in chatbot and AI development. Experience with frameworks like Flask, FastAPI, Express.js, or similar is highly valued.
  • Hands-on experience integrating the WhatsApp Business API and the Facebook Messenger Send API, including webhook setup, template messages, interactive components, and session handling.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, webhooks, JSON payloads, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure, including deploying and managing scalable chatbot services.
  • Knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) for managing conversation history, user data, and knowledge base content.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver clean, maintainable, well-documented code within agreed timelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language for non-technical stakeholders at arenaflex.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the travel, hospitality, or vacation rental industry, ideally with knowledge of booking workflows, guest lifecycle management, or short-term rental operations.
  • Experience fine-tuning large language models and implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines to provide domain-specific, accurate responses.
  • Multilingual chatbot development experience, particularly in languages commonly used by international travelers.
  • Familiarity with conversational UX best practices and human-centered design principles for chatbot interfaces.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, and experience implementing compliant data handling practices within chatbot ecosystems.
