[Remote] Unix System Administrator
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Prosum is seeking an experienced Senior UNIX Systems Administrator to join their technical support and infrastructure team. This role focuses on managing commercial UNIX platforms and resolving complex production issues for enterprise customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve advanced UNIX infrastructure support cases for enterprise customers
- Troubleshoot operating system, storage, networking, clustering, and performance-related issues
- Implement solutions directly within customer environments
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical customer escalations
- Maintain and expand internal lab environments used for testing and issue reproduction
- Develop and deliver periodic technical presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Document troubleshooting procedures, best practices, and technical solutions
- Continuously develop expertise across supported UNIX platforms and related technologies
Skills
- Strong production experience with at least two of the following: IBM AIX, HP-UX, Oracle Solaris
- Advanced shell scripting (ksh, sh, bash)
- System administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Storage management, including LVM and enterprise storage concepts
- Network administration and TCP/IP troubleshooting
- NFS, CIFS/SMB, and directory service integration
- System security, patching, and vulnerability remediation
- Operating system installation, upgrades, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Cluster administration and high-availability technologies
- Experience supporting multiple UNIX platforms in enterprise environments
- Familiarity with Power Systems and SPARC hardware
- Exposure to legacy UNIX operating systems such as Tru64 or IRIX
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms and virtualization technologies
- Strong communication and customer-facing troubleshooting skills
