Baptist Health is the region's largest not-for-profit healthcare organization, and they are seeking a Financial Clearance Associate 1 to manage patient access and insurance verification. The role involves obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and providing excellent customer service in a call center environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining and verifying necessary demographic and insurance information, including authorization/referrals/notifications (diagnostic, surgical, therapy, admissions/observations, and other procedures/treatments)
• Scheduling patients' appointments/procedures (initial, follow-up, and/or add-on), as applicable
• Meeting individual quality metrics (e.g., productivity, accuracy, customer service QA, etc.)
• Coordinating patient flow and timely processing
• Maintaining knowledge and deployment of practices used within the department/physician practice/hospital to address patient questions or concerns
• Maintaining knowledge of insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations
• Practicing the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members

Skills

• High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper
• Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course
• Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines
• Experience with computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, knowledge of EMR applications, etc.) and accurate typing skills
• Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole
• Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
