[Remote] Senior AI Engineer

They are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design and build production-grade agentic AI systems that automate complex workflows and connect natural language interfaces with operational software workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and build production-grade agentic AI systems that automate complex workflows
- Develop AI agents capable of tool usage, orchestration, planning, and execution
- Build systems that connect natural language interfaces with operational software workflows
- Design architectures for agent memory, context management, reasoning, and action execution
- Develop frameworks for artifact generation, reporting, visualization, and workflow automation
- Partner closely with product, engineering, and domain experts to translate customer needs into AI capabilities
- Evaluate and integrate emerging AI models, frameworks, and agent technologies
- Improve reliability, observability, performance, and scalability of AI systems in production
- Contribute to technical strategy and help establish engineering best practices across the AI organization
Skills
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be eligible and willing to obtain a security clearance (or already hold one)
- Comfortable working on national security and defense-related challenges
- Ability to travel approximately 25% as needed
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with exposure to AI, machine learning, or intelligent systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend engineering practices
- Experience building and deploying production systems at scale
- Hands-on experience with LLM applications, agent architectures, or AI workflow automation
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and software architecture
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive projects from concept through production deployment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Ownership mentality with a bias toward execution and problem-solving
- Experience building agent-based systems using modern orchestration frameworks
- Experience with retrieval systems, tool calling, workflow engines, or multi-agent architectures
- Familiarity with evaluation, observability, and monitoring of AI systems
- Experience developing customer-facing AI products
- Background in highly regulated, enterprise, government, or mission-critical environments
- Active use of AI coding assistants and modern AI engineering workflows
