Experienced Part-Time Statistics Analyst I – Sports Data Accuracy & Digital Content Production Specialist (Remote, USA)

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Join arenaflex: Where Passion for Sports Meets Data Excellence

Are you a sports enthusiast with a sharp analytical mind, an eye for detail, and a love for storytelling through numbers? arenaflex is looking for a dedicated and meticulous Part-Time Statistics Analyst I to join our dynamic Statistics and Data Collection team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, timely, and compelling sports data that powers millions of digital and television experiences across the country.

At arenaflex, we believe that great storytelling begins with great data. Our mission is to ensure that every fan, whether they're watching at home, scrolling on their phone, or following their fantasy league, can trust the statistics, scores, and insights that shape their understanding of the game. As a Statistics Analyst, you won't just be entering numbers — you'll be crafting the backbone of sports narratives that inform, engage, and inspire millions of passionate fans every single day.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment where precision matters and deadlines are sacred, this could be the perfect role for you. Whether you're a recent graduate, a career-changer with a love for sports, or someone looking to break into the media industry, we welcome your application.

About the Role: Part-Time Statistics Analyst I

As a Part-Time Statistics Analyst I at arenaflex, you will be an integral part of our Statistics and Analytics division. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and intelligence of sports data distributed across a wide range of platforms — from television broadcasts and live graphics to digital websites, fantasy sports portals, and real-time game applications.

This isn't just a data entry job. It's an opportunity to become a trusted guardian of sports information, working with both automated data feeds and manual entry processes to ensure that every score, schedule, standing, and statistic is delivered flawlessly. You'll collaborate with producers, editors, content creators, and fellow analysts to maintain the gold standard of sports data that our audience has come to expect.

Beyond the numbers, you'll have the chance to help transform raw statistics into compelling storylines. By recognizing significant statistical events — such as the moment a team clinches a playoff berth, a player sets a new record, or a game's momentum shifts — you'll contribute meaningfully to the narrative fabric of sports journalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Data Accuracy and Timeliness: Verify that all sports data distributed by the Statistics and Data team is accurate, delivered on time, and presented with insight and clarity.
  • Real-Time Statistical Delivery: Work independently and collaboratively to deliver precise play-by-play analysis, clock-and-score updates, and various metrics in real time that power a multitude of arenaflex digital products and television productions.
  • Maintain Comprehensive Knowledge: Develop and sustain a working knowledge of the role that Statistics and Data plays in powering arenaflex's digital products and television broadcasts.
  • Quality Control: Verify the accuracy of your own work and the work of others, consistently demonstrating an exceptionally high level of attention to detail.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Contribute to productions, projects, and initiatives across the broader newsroom, and assist newsroom leaders in coordinating both full-time and part-time staff.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Anticipate potential issues — both immediate and long-term — and propose effective solutions. Communicate clearly and decisively with colleagues about these challenges.
  • Process Improvement: Play an active role in helping colleagues develop or refine production workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Team Engagement: Be an active and vocal participant in team and departmental meetings, sharing insights, asking questions, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Performance Feedback: Actively seek and respond constructively to feedback regarding your personal performance and growth.
  • Policy Awareness: Stay informed about current office policies, procedures, and best practices, and apply them consistently in your daily work.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following:

  • Sports Knowledge: A working knowledge of teams, players, rules, and the nuances of major sports, including but not limited to football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Full schedule availability, which will include evening shifts (nights only), weekends, and holidays. This is a non-negotiable requirement of the position.
  • Rapid Learning Ability: The ability to quickly learn and master production processes that generate and maintain sports data powering digital and television products.
  • Accuracy Under Pressure: A demonstrated capacity to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive, high-pressure production environments.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate confidently — both verbally and in writing — with production managers and peers about production issues and opportunities, often amidst the noise and energy of a busy newsroom.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give candidates a competitive edge:

  • Industry Experience: One or more years of experience working in sports, statistics, or a related field, preferably in a media environment.
  • Data Application Knowledge: Familiarity with how sports data is used in media, journalism, and research contexts.
  • Product Familiarity: Working knowledge of major sports media products, platforms, and productions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior experience leading, mentoring, or training a team.
  • Bilingual Skills: The ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish.
  • Social Media Savvy: Experience using social media platforms in a professional business or news environment.

Education Requirements

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or Data Analytics.

What We're Looking For: Skills and Competencies

Beyond the formal qualifications, the ideal candidate for the Part-Time Statistics Analyst I role will demonstrate the following skills and personal attributes:

  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to interpret complex data sets, identify patterns, and extract meaningful insights that enhance storytelling.
  • Detail Orientation: A relentless commitment to accuracy, with the ability to catch errors that others might miss.
  • Time Management: The capacity to juggle multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with changing priorities, evolving technologies, and a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Teamwork: A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues across departments.
  • Initiative: A self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfort with learning new software systems, databases, and digital tools quickly.
  • SQL and Database Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL programming, databases, and data querying is a plus, especially for those interested in supporting broader Data and Analytics initiatives.
