Family Law Paralegal

Virginia Family Law Center, P.C. is a boutique family law firm serving clients across Virginia with compassion and skill. They are seeking a self-motivated Family Law Paralegal to assist with case management, document preparation, court filings, and client communication, ensuring cases progress efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain case files, calendars, deadlines, court dates, and task lists
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and third parties
  • Prepare and file routine pleadings, notices, cover sheets, discovery documents, correspondence, and other court filings using firm templates and attorney direction
  • Assist attorneys with preparation of motions, agreements, financial disclosures, exhibits, hearing notebooks, and trial materials
  • Review, organize, summarize, and maintain client documents, financial records, and discovery responses
  • Coordinate service of process, subpoenas, scheduling, and electronic filing
  • Draft routine correspondence and follow up with clients regarding requested information and documentation
  • Enter time accurately and maintain detailed case notes
  • Draft motions, pleadings, subpoenas, affidavits, orders, and related family law filings
  • Prepare attorneys for hearings, trials, mediations, depositions, and custody evaluations
  • File documents with state courts and manage all case deadlines
  • Organize and maintain case files and manage calendars in CLIO/eCourts
  • Handle discovery, including collecting, organizing, and uploading materials
  • Communicate with clients, court staff, opposing counsel, and third parties

Skills

  • 1+ year of paralegal experience, preferably in family law
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software
  • Attention to detail, professionalism, and a strong commitment to client service
  • Experience drafting family law documents (motions, agreements, withdrawals, NOAs, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
  • Excellent client communication and customer service skills
