About arenaflex – Pioneering the Future of Data‑Driven Commerce

arenaflex is a global leader in e‑commerce and cloud‑based technology solutions, empowering millions of customers worldwide with fast, reliable, and innovative services. Our mission is to harness the power of data, artificial intelligence, and cutting‑edge infrastructure to anticipate customer demand, streamline operations, and deliver an unmatched shopping experience. As part of our rapidly expanding Forecasting Core Data Engineering team, you will join a community of forward‑thinking engineers, product managers, data scientists, and business analysts who are shaping the next generation of predictive analytics.

Why This Role Matters

In the fast‑moving world of online retail, accurate demand forecasting is the engine that drives inventory optimization, logistics planning, and customer satisfaction. As a Data Engineer – Forecasting Core, you will design, build, and maintain the massive data pipelines that feed our AI models, enabling arenaflex to predict product demand across continents, languages, and market segments. Your work will directly influence strategic decisions, reduce waste, and help millions of shoppers receive the products they want, when they want them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data ingestion pipelines using AWS services (S3, Redshift, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, IAM) and arenaflex‑specific tools to collect raw data from diverse sources such as transactional logs, clickstreams, supplier feeds, and third‑party marketplaces.
  • Develop and maintain robust ETL processes that transform raw data into clean, enriched datasets ready for consumption by machine‑learning models, business intelligence dashboards, and downstream analytics applications.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, product owners, and business analysts to understand data requirements, define data contracts, and ensure the pipelines deliver high‑quality, timely data that meets performance SLAs.
  • Build and manage data lakes and data warehouses on Amazon S3 and Redshift, implementing best practices for partitioning, indexing, and metadata management to optimize query performance and cost efficiency.
  • Perform data profiling, validation, and quality checks to detect anomalies, missing values, and schema drift, and proactively resolve data integrity issues.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance using CloudWatch, AWS X‑Ray, and custom dashboards, ensuring reliability under high‑throughput workloads.
  • Document data models, pipeline architecture, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and enable rapid onboarding of new team members.
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies and propose innovative solutions that improve scalability, reduce latency, and enhance the overall data ecosystem.

A Day in the Life

Each day you will start by reviewing the health of your data pipelines, checking for any alerts or performance degradations. You’ll then dive into a sprint planning meeting with product managers and data scientists to prioritize new data sources and feature enhancements. Throughout the day, you’ll write SQL and Python code, configure AWS Glue jobs, and fine‑tune EMR clusters to handle petabyte‑scale workloads. You’ll also spend time mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, and sharing best practices across the broader data engineering community at arenaflex.

Essential Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in data engineering, with a focus on building large‑scale ETL pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and columnar stores (e.g., Redshift).
  • Hands‑on experience with data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and metadata management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with AWS services such as S3, Redshift, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, and Lambda.
  • Solid understanding of data formats (CSV, JSON, Parquet, Avro) and data serialization/deserialization techniques.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a track record of tackling complex data challenges under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience specifically in building data pipelines for machine‑learning or forecasting workloads.
  • Experience with non‑relational data stores such as DynamoDB, Cassandra, or Neo4j.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or Prefect.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java for data transformation.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Exposure to big‑data processing frameworks like Spark, Hadoop, or Flink.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect large datasets, identify patterns, and propose actionable insights.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in cross‑functional teams, sharing knowledge, and building consensus.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing environment where priorities shift based on business needs.
  • Ownership: Take end‑to‑end responsibility for data pipelines, from design through production monitoring.
