Position Overview
arenaflex is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer – Healthcare Data & Business Intelligence to join a distributed, cross-functional team of data analysts, BI engineers, systems administrators, and business stakeholders. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal IT, data engineering, and analytics teams to design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that enables automated reporting and insight generation across the arenaflex Healthcare Quality Improvement program. Key Responsibilities
- Lead Data & Insights Delivery: Supervise the delivery of arenaflex Healthcare data and insights initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives and quality standards.
- Support ETL/ELT Operations: Uphold both long-term and ad-hoc data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) and data warehousing activities to meet arenaflex Healthcare reporting and analytics expectations.
- Design Layered Data Architecture: Plan, develop, and deliver layered data warehouses and data pipelines to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence programs across the organization.
- Build Semantic & Physical Models: Create data staging and pre-processing standards for populating logical and physical data models tied to report-specific working tables, supporting both enterprise BI and pre-defined reporting solutions.
- Apply Best-Practice ETL/ELT Patterns: Integrate large datasets from multiple internal arenaflex production system sources and third-party feeds using industry best practices for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Perform Data Profiling & Analysis: Conduct data profiling and exploratory data analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data assets, and standard healthcare datasets (e.g., member eligibility, medical claims, pharmacy claims, HEDIS ECDS records).
- Build Internal Automation Tools: Develop and maintain internal tools for the automation of development-related activities, including data processing, quality assurance, and data validation workflows.
- Drive Semantic Layer Enhancements: Provide thought leadership and present tool-agnostic semantic data layer improvements connected to BI technology platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with technical teams, internal stakeholders, clients, and vendor partners to deliver performance insights across the arenaflex Healthcare portfolio.
- Mentor and Lead: Demonstrate leadership through direct team management, indirect influence, and cross-functional team coordination to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
Essential Qualifications
- Hands-On SQL & ETL/ELT Expertise: Verifiable, hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT scripts in production environments.
- Cloud Data Platform Experience: Demonstrated experience designing and delivering logically separated data environments using ETL/ELT services such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Semantic Layer & BI Tool Fluency: Experience providing thought leadership and presenting tool-agnostic semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms like PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage technical teams, internal stakeholders, clients, and vendor partners effectively.
- Financial Decision-Making Experience: At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- Leadership Experience: A minimum of 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team management experience.
- Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes, both within state and out of state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with pharmacy, healthcare, and clinical research concepts is highly desirable and will help you ramp quickly in this role.
- Healthcare Data Familiarity: Working knowledge of healthcare datasets such as member eligibility, medical claims, pharmacy claims, and HEDIS ECDS records is a strong plus.
- Automation Mindset: A track record of building internal tools that automate data processing, QA, and validation activities.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Prior experience collaborating with external vendors and technology partners on data initiatives.
