Role Overview

The Remote Data Entry & Silicon Validation Engineer position sits at the intersection of hardware design, embedded software, and data‑driven testing. In this role you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including silicon designers, firmware developers, and validation specialists—to develop, execute, and refine test plans for arenaflex’s upcoming Wi‑Fi and connectivity silicon blocks. You will be responsible for creating robust test scripts, analyzing results, and driving root‑cause investigations, all while working from the comfort of your own home office.

This opportunity is open to both full‑time and part‑time candidates, offering a competitive annual salary of $70,000 and a flexible schedule that respects work‑life balance. If you have a passion for turning complex silicon architectures into reliable, market‑ready products, this role is your gateway to making a tangible impact on millions of customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Development & Execution: Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites for Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and other connectivity silicon blocks, ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional, performance, and power‑management scenarios.
  • Data Entry & Management: Accurately capture test results, log anomalies, and maintain structured databases that enable rapid analysis and traceability across design iterations.
  • Debug & Root‑Cause Analysis: Work closely with hardware layout engineers and firmware teams to isolate silicon defects, reproduce issues, and propose corrective actions.
  • Collaboration with Design Teams: Partner with silicon architects to understand block specifications, contribute to design reviews, and provide feedback on testability and verification strategies.
  • Pre‑Silicon Validation: Execute tests in pre‑silicon environments, leveraging simulation tools and emulators to catch issues early in the development cycle.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Produce clear, concise test reports, defect tickets, and status updates for stakeholders, highlighting trends, risk areas, and mitigation plans.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance test automation frameworks, streamline data entry processes, and adopt best practices in silicon validation.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Guide junior engineers and interns, fostering a collaborative learning environment and promoting best‑in‑class validation techniques.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of silicon architecture, micro‑structure, and digital interface protocols (e.g., PCIe, USB, MIPI, MAC).
  • Hands‑on experience writing embedded software test scripts in languages such as Python, C, or Tcl.
  • Proficiency with hardware‑software interaction, including the use of logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
  • Solid grasp of timing analysis, state‑machine debugging, and high‑speed memory interfaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, layout diagrams, and hardware description language (HDL) files.
  • Demonstrated passion for deep‑dive problem solving and a proactive, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for documenting findings and collaborating across remote teams.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (remote positions are open to U.S. residents).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth silicon validation, including familiarity with RF testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry‑standard verification tools such as UVM, SystemVerilog, or Verilator.
  • Prior exposure to Agile or Scrum development processes in a hardware‑centric environment.
  • Certification or formal training in test automation frameworks (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Experience working in fully remote or distributed teams, demonstrating self‑discipline and effective time management.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex test failures, identify root causes, and propose actionable solutions.
  • Technical Writing: Crafting clear, detailed documentation that can be understood by both hardware and software audiences.
  • Collaboration: Building strong relationships with designers, firmware engineers, and product managers across time zones.
  • Adaptability: Quickly learning new tools, protocols, and silicon architectures as product lines evolve.
  • Attention to Detail: Precise data entry and meticulous tracking of test metrics to ensure reproducibility.
  • Self‑Motivation: Managing workload independently while meeting deadlines in a remote setting.
