Why This Role Matters

The Pharmacy Customer Service Associate position sits at the intersection of patient care and retail excellence. You will be the friendly face that greets customers, the reliable partner who assists pharmacists, and the knowledgeable guide who helps shoppers find the products they need. Your contributions directly impact patient safety, medication accuracy, and overall store performance, making this role essential to arenaflex’s mission of delivering health‑focused convenience.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Interaction & Service Excellence

  • Greet every customer with a warm, professional demeanor, offering assistance with pharmacy and retail products.
  • Answer questions about prescription status, over‑the‑counter (OTC) items, and health‑related concerns, ensuring a positive and informative experience.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly, escalating complex matters to the supervising pharmacist when necessary.
  • Demonstrate arenaflex’s service standards—eye contact, courtesy, proactive assistance, and follow‑through until the customer is fully satisfied.

Pharmacy Operations Support

  • Assist the pharmacist with prescription processing under direct supervision, including data entry, verification, and medication dispensing.
  • Utilize arenaflex pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform medication counts, pour, and label preparation while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Identify and report prescription errors or potential drug interactions to the pharmacist immediately.
  • Handle non‑clinical phone calls, such as refill requests and physician communications, following established protocols.
  • Process third‑party insurance claims, correcting and resubmitting as needed to ensure timely reimbursement.

Retail Sales & Merchandising

  • Operate the cash register, process transactions, handle cash, credit, and refunds accurately.
  • Recommend complementary products and promotional items to increase basket size and enhance the shopping experience.
  • Maintain clean, organized counters and shelves; conduct regular inventory checks and price updates.
  • Assist customers in locating OTC items, guiding them to appropriate aisles, and explaining product differences.
  • Execute planograms, seasonal displays, and promotional setups, ensuring visual standards are met.
  • Support inventory management tasks—receiving, unpacking, stocking, and rotating products using FIFO (first‑in, first‑out) methodology.

Compliance & Safety

  • Adhere to state and federal regulations governing prescription medications, controlled substances, alcohol, and tobacco.
  • Follow arenaflex’s Pharmacy Code of Conduct and all internal policies related to privacy, safety, and ethical practice.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and damaged goods.
  • Participate in regular safety drills, store cleanliness initiatives, and loss‑prevention measures.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in health‑related fields is a plus.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (exception for Puerto Rico locations).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Basic proficiency with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and comfort learning new software platforms.

Preferred Qualifications & Professional Development

  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, or customer‑service environment.
  • Certification such as Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or completion of a state‑approved pharmacy training program.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential patient information in compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, especially when handling medication counts and inventory.
  • Commitment to ongoing education—participation in arenaflex’s internal training modules, continuing education credits, and industry webinars.
