Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests for new recommendation algorithms and strategies. Develop innovative testing methodologies and statistical approaches to validate our hypothesis-driven experiments.
• Perform comprehensive exploratory data analysis using advanced techniques such as clustering and segmentation to uncover hidden patterns and generate actionable insights that inform our product recommendation roadmap.
• Develop and maintain KPI reporting frameworks with a focus on anomaly detection and sophisticated measurement approaches. Build robust monitoring systems to track recommendation system performance across various dimensions.
• Create and enhance automated tools that improve efficiency and effectiveness. For example, develop QA tools to better understand the performance of new algorithms before A/B testing them in production environments.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, ML, and product teams to translate analytical findings into technical requirements and product features. Build and maintain productive relationships with cross-functional partners.
• Communicate key insights and recommendations to cross-functional executive leaders across the organization. Present complex analytical findings in clear, compelling formats that drive decision-making.
• Proactively monitor recommendation models to identify potential issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions. Take ownership of model performance and business impact.
• Build new analytical tools that allow the team to be more productive and efficient. Continuously seek opportunities to optimize existing workflows and methodologies.

What You'll Need

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related discipline.
• 2+ years of professional experience in an analytical role (beyond any graduate education).
• Advanced proficiency in SQL including aggregate functions, query optimization, stored procedures, string parsing, and experience with large-scale databases (Vertica, Hive, Voila, Spark, etc.).
• Expert-level experience with Python and essential Python libraries including Jupyter notebooks, functions, pandas, sklearn, matplotlib, etc.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in team environments.
• Ability to collaborate and proactively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated track record of ownership and delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong business acumen combined with analytical skills, technical capabilities, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with e-commerce companies is strongly preferred. Understanding of retail dynamics, customer behavior in online shopping contexts, and recommendation systems in commercial applications.
• Experience with experimental design (A/B tests) and statistical analysis to drive business decision-making.
• Knowledge and experience applying machine learning algorithms/techniques (decision trees, random forest, deep learning, etc.) within a business setting.
• Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks and distributed computing environments.
• Familiarity with recommendation systems and collaborative filtering techniques.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.
