What You'll Do

As the Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will lead the methodology and execution of incorporating new datasets that fuel investigation and information science drives for our Client Experience organization. Your work will be instrumental in consolidating, organizing, and automating data collections from multiple sources including contact centers, e-commerce platforms, conditional data, store networks, and operational systems.

You'll be responsible for stitching and migrating various customer-related data sources into Google BigQuery, maintaining our enterprise data warehouse, planning and executing quality assurance processes, and delivering ad-hoc reporting that answers critical business questions. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Development (50%): Plan and develop effective, user-friendly applications, reports, and dashboards using BI tools like MicroStrategy and SAS. Create robust data pipelines that seamlessly integrate data from multiple enterprise sources into our centralized data warehouse.
• Business Collaboration (25%): Partner with business leaders to identify priorities and gather requirements. Provide innovative solutions by building custom tools, reports, and predictive models. Automate reporting workflows to deliver timely insights without manual intervention.
• Best Practices & Innovation (25%): Research and report best practices and standards for utilizing our BI tools. Provide thought leadership on industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and analytics.
• Design and maintain scalable data architecture that supports millions of customer interactions daily
• Develop and implement data quality monitoring frameworks to ensure accuracy and reliability
• Create technical documentation and knowledge base articles for data engineering standards
• Mentor and guide junior team members on data engineering best practices

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics roles
• Technical Proficiency: Strong mastery of SQL with preference for Google BigQuery experience
• Programming Skills: Solid knowledge of Python for data processing and automation
• Data Pipeline Experience: Demonstrated experience with data streaming technologies and real-time data processing
• Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data stitching processes – combining datasets from various sources to derive deep insights into customer behavior and journey (e.g., integrating contact center data with customer orders)
• Proven experience in moving data on regular rhythms between platforms – understand data synchronization and ETL/ELT workflows
• Experience navigating and analyzing organization data to support statistical analysis for business stakeholders
• Previous retail industry experience is highly desirable
• Knowledge of cloud-based data warehousing solutions and modern data architecture patterns
• Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering
