Associate Applications Support Engineer
Birmingham City Council is one of the largest local authorities in Europe, supporting over a million citizens through a complex landscape of digital systems and services. They are seeking Associate Application Support Engineers to support a broad range of business-critical applications essential to the Council's operations. The role involves troubleshooting, incident resolution, and supporting application maintenance in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the resolution of incidents and service requests
- Assist with application troubleshooting
- Contribute to system monitoring and performance activities
- Support configuration, maintenance, and upgrade activities across a wide range of applications and platforms
- Work alongside experienced engineers to implement changes, test updates, and help maintain secure and compliant systems
Skills
- Some experience supporting applications, IT systems, or digital services
- The ability to troubleshoot issues and work through problems logically
- Experience working in a structured environment where accuracy and attention to detail are important
- The ability to manage their own workload, with support where needed
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical teams and business users
- Experience may have been gained through previous roles, education, or hands-on exposure to systems and technologies, but candidates should be comfortable working in a live support environment and contributing to service delivery
