Senior Government Consulting Analyst

Mercer is a global leader in risk, reinsurance, and capital management consulting. They are seeking a Senior Government Consulting Analyst to assist with various projects for clients, primarily focusing on state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) agencies. The role involves research, analysis, project coordination, and communication to support Medicaid/CHIP projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with taking meeting notes and following up with action items and assignments
  • Research, analyze, and present findings on various policy and program topics to project leaders and senior consultant team members
  • Provide project coordination activities and other work to support the advancement of project tasks and client deliverables
  • Review project documentation, including technical write-ups, project documentation, and executive summaries
  • Utilize internal and external resources, participate in training courses, online learning, or through learning from more experienced colleagues to gain an understanding of government-sponsored health and welfare programs
  • Manage your time effectively to support a variety of state Medicaid/CHIP projects at any one time
  • Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables and communicate regularly and effectively with project team members
  • Assist with the preparation and timely delivery of clear and concise project team and client communications
  • Follow protocols for quality assurance

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1+ year of experience with healthcare or public health related topics – may include a combination of internships or pre-graduate experiences
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to translate technical findings into clear, client-friendly insights
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Master's degree in public health, health policy, health services research, or a related field
  • Experience with Medicaid health programs or other government-sponsored healthcare programs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to non-technical audiences
  • Experience performing technical analyses in Excel, SAS, or other data analysis tools
  • Project management and/or project leadership credentials
