Dutch (Netherlands) Linguist/Phonetician
Work Location: Remote/Work-from-home Work Schedule: Flexible schedule Engagement Model: Freelance/Independent contractor Language Needed: Dutch (Netherlands) Start date: As soon as possible Estimated duration: ~2.5 hours of work in total in two weeks Project duration: Through December 2026, with occasional small tasks available each month (duration and task availability are subject to project needs and availability). DataForce by TransPerfect is currently looking for linguists/phoneticians with idiomatic fluency in Dutch (Netherlands) to join our team of Freelance Linguists. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative project. Role Summary As a Phonetician/Linguist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and usability of IPA annotations. The ideal candidate is a trained phonetician or linguist with a strong command of the International Phonetic Alphabet and a meticulous eye for detail. You combine solid theoretical grounding in phonetics and phonology with practical experience working on real-world linguistic data. Role Responsibilities In this role, you will review and proofread IPA annotations for phonetic accuracy and completeness and ensure consistent application of IPA standards and project-specific guidelines. Additionally, you will need to provide short audio recordings to validate the IPA transcriptions.
Requirements
Idiomatic fluency in Dutch (Netherlands) Excellent listening, writing and spelling skills in Dutch (Netherlands) Degree in Linguistics, Phonetics, Speech Science, or a related field Good command of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Proven experience in phonetic transcription or linguistic annotation Advanced English language skills (written and verbal) Excellent attention to detail and consistency Ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively Interest in language technologies.
