Job Description
The Staff Site Reliability Engineer (networking-subjects related) is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining networking solutions that ensure Visa’s application services operate with high availability and reliability. This role focuses on fulfilling strategical network projects, automating operational tasks, monitoring system performance, and supporting incident response to optimize the reliability and efficiency of global payment systems. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, influence architectural decisions, and build systems that process billions of transactions. The position requires expertise in modern application technologies, cloud platforms, containerization, and observability tools, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work. What You'll Do: Develop and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure and networking services deployed on cloud platforms such as AWS. Own the delivery of clean, efficient, testable, and well‑documented infrastructure solutions aligned with the squad’s technical strategy and business goals. Actively participate in all stages of the infrastructure and platform lifecycle, including technical planning, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. Design and implement highly available and resilient networking architectures, ensuring “Always On” availability for application services. Build and maintain cloud‑native and containerized environments, supporting microservices architectures and distributed systems. Write and maintain automation for monitoring, deployment, and incident response processes to improve operational efficiency and reliability. Provision, evolve, and maintain cloud and networking infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, following best practices. Monitor platform and network health using logs, metrics, alerts, and tracing, proactively identifying and resolving issues in distributed systems. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts to resolve complex technical issues and prevent future incidents. Participate in on‑call rotations and incident response, ensuring operational excellence and system reliability. Collaborate closely with global engineering and cross‑functional teams to build, deploy, and support scalable application services. Contribute to architectural and technical discussions, supporting continuous improvement, scalability, and long‑term platform evolution. Drive the evolution from traditional systems to cloud‑native architectures, influencing technical decisions and best practices. Stay up to date with emerging technologies, networking advancements, and SRE practices, contributing insights to squad‑level and collective‑level discussions. Be recognized for delivering high‑quality, impactful platform and reliability solutions within the team. This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. Qualifications
For this role, you must be based in Brazil Language Skills Proficiency in English at B1 level or above (Intermediate) Technical Skills 5+ years of experience working with Site Reliability Engineering, networking, or infrastructure in production environments. Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, building scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions. Advanced Git usage, including resolving complex version control and collaboration scenarios. Solid experience designing and operating containerized microservices architectures. Proven ability to debug and troubleshoot issues in distributed systems. Strong experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and ELK stack. Experience designing and documenting infrastructure and networking architectures using diagrams and technical documentation. Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible. Experience automating operational tasks using programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Shell. Advanced usage of Docker and Kubernetes in production environments. Strong knowledge of networking concepts and infrastructure across both physical and cloud environments, including firewalls, switches, BGP, VPC, Transit Gateway, peering, PrivateLink, and Direct Connect. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps practices, and observability concepts including monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting. Ability to actively contribute to technical decision‑making related to scalability, reliability, performance, and system evolution.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with critical or mission‑critical systems. Experience in distributed systems design and maintenance. Experience working in fast‑paced 24x7 environments. Experience in cloud and hybrid architecture across platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. Experience in observability and performance optimization techniques. Experience working with Agile teams. Experience supporting machine learning pipelines and related infrastructure. Experience using AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, GPT, Claude) to improve development efficiency and quality. 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA).
