Senior Insurance Underwriter (Remote)
Our client, a distinguished insurance provider, is seeking an experienced and meticulous Senior Insurance Underwriter to join their fully remote team. This critical role involves evaluating and accepting or rejecting insurance risks to ensure the company's financial stability and profitability. You will be responsible for analyzing complex applications, determining appropriate coverage, and setting premiums based on thorough risk assessment. Key responsibilities include: Assessing insurance applications for commercial or personal lines, meticulously evaluating risks associated with each applicant. Analyzing financial statements, loss history, and other relevant data to determine insurability and pricing. Developing and recommending appropriate policy terms, conditions, and coverage limits. Setting accurate premium rates based on risk assessment, market conditions, and company guidelines. Communicating underwriting decisions and rationale clearly to agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders. Collaborating with claims, actuarial, and sales departments to ensure cohesive risk management strategies. Staying informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with agents and brokers. Participating in underwriting audits and providing feedback for process improvement. Mentoring and training less experienced underwriters, sharing knowledge and best practices. Adhering to all company underwriting guidelines, legal requirements, and ethical standards. Contributing to the development and refinement of underwriting tools and resources. Managing a portfolio of accounts to ensure profitability and risk balance. The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. Professional designations such as CPCU or AU are highly desirable. A minimum of 5-7 years of comprehensive experience in insurance underwriting is essential. Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills are paramount. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are required, along with a high degree of self-discipline and time management skills to excel in a remote setting.
