Role Summary

arenaflex is seeking a dedicated, full‑time Remote Pharmacy Technician to join our data entry and claims management team. In this role, you will perform a variety of essential pharmacy functions—including data entry, provider and patient outreach, claim adjudication, prior authorizations, and third‑party communications—under remote supervision and in strict accordance with state and federal regulations. Your work will directly impact patient satisfaction, medication safety, and the financial health of the pharmacy operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to arenaflex policies, security protocols, and confidentiality standards while handling all pharmacy data.
  • Assist the pharmacist by receiving new written or electronic prescriptions and refill requests, verifying critical information such as patient demographics, medication details, allergies, prescriber credentials, and billing data.
  • After completing training, collect prescription information from physicians’ offices, ensuring accuracy of patient name, DOB, medication name, strength, dosage instructions, refills, and prescriber details.
  • Enter, retrieve, and update patient and prescription records in arenaflex’s pharmacy management system, accurately bill insurance carriers, and generate medication labels in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Process third‑party claims, monitor adjudication status, and resolve rejections promptly by contacting providers, insurers, and patients as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the pharmacy team regarding claim status, denied claims, daily progress, and any data‑entry issues.
  • Maintain punctual attendance and develop courteous, professional relationships with patients, customers, and co‑workers.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacist to complete Medicare DMEPOS paperwork, ensure correct product delivery, and keep precise billing records.
  • Follow controlled‑substance dispensing rules, including monitoring MMEs, PDMP checks, and date‑of‑last‑fill requirements.
  • Conduct outreach calls to patients, providers, and third parties to gather missing information, clarify prescription details, or resolve claim issues.
  • Support store teams in completing medication therapy management (MTM) documentation and data collection initiatives.
  • Assist Remote Data Operations (RDO) staff with tasks that support the broader operations team, such as data audits and workflow optimization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the pharmacist or operations manager to ensure seamless pharmacy operations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands‑on pharmacy technician experience in a retail or clinical setting.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacy technician with arenaflex (formerly Missouri Board of Pharmacy).
  • Proficiency with arenaflex’s pharmacy software platform (formerly Pioneer Rx) and strong computer literacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to patients and providers.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities, with a resourceful approach to resolving technical or procedural issues.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Experience

  • National pharmacy technician certification (e.g., PTCB or NHA) and ongoing commitment to professional development.
  • Experience with electronic prior authorization platforms and third‑party claim adjudication processes.
  • Familiarity with Medicare Part D, DMEPOS regulations, and controlled‑substance monitoring requirements.
  • Background in medication therapy management (MTM) support or data collection for quality‑assurance programs.
  • Ability to train or mentor junior staff members on data entry best practices and compliance standards.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Regulatory Knowledge: In‑depth understanding of state and federal pharmacy regulations, including PDMP, MME calculations, and controlled‑substance handling.
  • Technical Acumen: Comfortable navigating pharmacy management systems, electronic health records, and insurance portals.
  • Accuracy & Speed: Ability to enter large volumes of data quickly while maintaining a near‑zero error rate.
  • Communication: Clear, empathetic communication with patients, prescribers, and insurance representatives.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time‑management and multitasking abilities to handle simultaneous prescription workflows.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive identification of claim issues and swift resolution through research and collaboration.

  • Mentorship programs that pair you with experienced pharmacy leaders for career guidance and skill enhancement.
  • Certification reimbursement for continuing education courses, including advanced pharmacy technician certifications and specialized clinical training.
  • Opportunities to cross‑train in related areas such as MTM support, telepharmacy services, and pharmacy operations analysis.
