Our commitment to safety, sustainability, and community engagement makes arenaflex not just a place to shop, but a partner in every homeowner’s journey.

Why This Role Matters

As a Customer Service & Sales Associate at arenaflex, you will be the front‑line ambassador who turns casual browsers into satisfied project owners. You’ll blend friendly assistance with strategic selling, guiding customers through product selection, project planning, and final purchase. Your ability to listen, recommend, and close will directly impact the store’s performance, the customer’s confidence, and arenaflex’s reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Interaction & Needs Assessment

  • Greet every customer with a warm, professional demeanor, establishing trust from the first moment.
  • Engage in active listening to uncover the underlying needs, project goals, and budget constraints of each shopper.
  • Qualify customers quickly, determining whether they require simple product advice, detailed project guidance, or specialized professional assistance.

Product Knowledge & Recommendation

  • Master the full spectrum of arenaflex’s product lines—including Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental.
  • Utilize arenaflex’s internal tools, digital catalogs, and in‑store displays to provide accurate, up‑to‑date information on product specifications, compatibility, and pricing.
  • Recommend complementary items and accessories that enhance the customer’s project, increasing average transaction value while delivering genuine value.

Sales Execution & Project Closing

  • Guide customers through the entire sales cycle—from initial inquiry to final checkout—ensuring a seamless, confidence‑building experience.
  • Present tailored solutions, demonstrate product benefits, and address objections with confidence and empathy.
  • Close sales by confirming order details, arranging delivery or pickup, and offering post‑sale support options such as installation services or warranty extensions.

Store Maintenance & Visual Merchandising

  • Maintain assigned department aisles in a fully stocked, organized, and visually appealing condition.
  • Perform regular inventory checks, replenish shelves, and coordinate with the back‑room team to prevent stockouts.
  • Ensure all displays are clean, safe, and “shop‑able,” adhering to arenaflex’s visual standards and brand guidelines.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety policies, complete required safety training, and proactively identify hazards.
  • Immediately correct or report unsafe conditions to the Department Supervisor or Manager on Duty.
  • Promote a safe environment for coworkers, vendors, and customers by modeling proper lifting techniques, equipment usage, and emergency procedures.

Collaboration & Cross‑Department Support

  • Work closely with the Department Supervisor, fellow associates, and other store departments to deliver a unified customer experience.
  • Assist colleagues in adjacent areas (e.g., helping the Paint team with color consultations or supporting the Tool Rental desk during peak periods).
  • Participate in store meetings, training sessions, and special events to stay aligned with arenaflex’s strategic goals.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; additional education in retail, sales, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in a customer‑facing role, preferably within retail, hospitality, or home‑improvement environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate product features and benefits clearly.
  • Basic proficiency with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and handheld devices.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, stand for extended periods, and navigate a busy store environment safely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in home‑improvement, construction, or interior design retail settings.
  • Certification or coursework in sales techniques, customer relationship management (CRM), or product merchandising.
  • Familiarity with arenaflex’s product categories, brand partners, and industry trends.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities to serve a diverse customer base.
  • Proven track record of upselling, cross‑selling, and generating repeat business.

Skills & Competencies Required for Success

  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Genuine enthusiasm for helping people solve problems and achieve project goals.
  • Active Listening: Ability to ask probing questions, interpret non‑verbal cues, and tailor recommendations accordingly.
  • Product Literacy: Rapid learning of technical specifications, installation requirements, and compatibility considerations across multiple categories.
  • Sales Acumen: Confidence in presenting value propositions, handling objections, and closing deals without pressure.
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to share knowledge, support peers, and contribute to a positive store atmosphere.
  • Organizational Skills: Efficiently manage multiple customer interactions, stock replenishment tasks, and safety checks within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Problem‑Solving: Resourceful in finding alternatives when inventory is limited or when a customer’s needs evolve.
  • Technology Savvy: Comfortable using tablets, mobile apps, and digital pricing tools to enhance the shopping experience.
