Medical Insurance Follow-Up Specialist
Job Title: Medical Insurance Follow-Up Specialist (Remote) Industry: Healthcare Revenue Cycle / Medical Billing Location: Fully Remote (Texas candidates) Compensation: $22-$23/hour Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST About Our Client: Addison Group is partnering with a healthcare organization seeking a Medical Insurance Follow-Up Specialist to join their revenue cycle team. This is a remote opportunity supporting insurance collections, denial resolution, and accounts receivable activities within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Job Description: The Medical Insurance Follow-Up Specialist will be responsible for researching outstanding insurance claims, resolving payment issues, and working directly with payers to ensure timely reimbursement. This individual will play a key role in identifying denial trends, recommending process improvements, and supporting overall accounts receivable performance. Qualifications:
- Previous experience in medical billing, insurance follow-up, or healthcare accounts receivable
- Familiarity with Texas Medicaid strongly preferred
- Understanding of insurance claims processing, EOBs, denials, and collections
- Experience working with payer portals and insurance carriers
- Proficient Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Experience with UnitedHealthcare claims and collections is a plus
- Prior experience within a healthcare or government-related healthcare setting is preferred but not required
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and follow up on outstanding insurance claims to secure payment resolution
- Investigate denied, underpaid, or delayed claims and initiate appeals when appropriate
- Utilize payer websites and direct outreach to insurance representatives to obtain claim status updates
- Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and payment activity to identify reimbursement issues
- Track and report denial patterns, reimbursement trends, and opportunities for process improvement
- Present findings and recommendations to team members and leadership during group meetings
- Maintain accurate account documentation and follow-up records
- Support revenue cycle operations through effective accounts receivable management
