Sports Capital Researcher
About the role: CapSignal Sports is a capital intelligence newsletter tracking early-stage funding across the sports ecosystem. We publish Deal Intelligence Briefs (DIBs) that translate sports startup deals into market signals — what investors are funding, what patterns are emerging, and what founders should be watching. We're looking for a sharp, part-time Sports Capital Researcher to help expand our coverage. This is a flexible, remote role for someone who lives at the intersection of sports, business, and capital markets. What you'll do: – Track and source early-stage funding deals in sports (Pre-Seed → Series A) across the US, Europe, Asia, MENA, and LATAM – Compile structured Deal Intelligence Briefs using our methodology (5-factor signal rubric) – Identify pattern signals across deal clusters – Maintain our Capital Activity Tracker with new deals each week – Occasionally contribute analysis to published newsletter issues (with byline credit) Who you are: – You read sports business news for fun – You can scan a funding announcement and immediately ask the right questions about it – You're comfortable working independently with clear written deliverables – You're at home with spreadsheets, Google Docs, and structured research – Background in finance, journalism, sports management, consulting, or operations is helpful but not required — what matters more is curiosity and analytical sharpness Bonus points if: – You have a personal LinkedIn or Substack presence in sports/finance/tech – You've worked at a sports startup, accelerator, sports VC, or media outlet – You're fluent in markets outside the US Compensation: Project-based / hourly, commensurate with experience. Flexible hours (~5-10 per week to start, with room to expand). Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
