Former Teachers & Paras: Lead a Small Learning Pod From Home | Hourly Rate + Bonus Per Student
About the Role
You spent years in classrooms. You're good with kids. You miss the part where you actually got to know them, not the testing, not the paperwork, not the 28-to-1 ratios. Sunny is building a network of small learning pods hosted in private homes across the country. A certified teacher leads the academics online. You run the in-person part of the day: hands-on projects, group activities, outdoor time, and enrichment with a small group of students who actually have room to be known. Many of our Pod Leaders are transitioning out of full-time classroom roles. You don't need a current teaching certification. You don't need to build curriculum. You don't need to chase scholarships or handle billing. Sunny handles all of that. You bring the space, the warmth, and the experience working with kids. To Launch a Pod, We Need Three Things From You
- A space. A safe home where a small group of students can meet during weekday daytime hours. It doesn't need to be fancy. It needs to feel good to be in.
- A few families to start. Sunny markets and enrolls, but the pods that launch fastest usually start with 2 students the Pod Leader already knows, a former student's family, a neighbor, a friend from your old school, a family from church.
- The launch. Once your space and first students are ready, Sunny walks you through everything: reviewing the space, getting set up, introducing families, and preparing for day one.
Compensation $25/hour for 16 hours per week, plus $100/month per student in your pod. That's a $1,700/month base, plus pod bonus. With two groups of 5 students, that's $1,000/month in pod bonus on top of your base, around $2,700/month for 16 hours a week. Schedule Part-time, 16 hours per week. 4 hours per day, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Home in time for afternoon errands, your own kids' pickup, or the rest of your life. Most Pod Leaders host two groups of students across the week. For example, one group on Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 to 1:30, and a second group on Tuesday and Thursday. Two groups means double the per-student bonus without doubling your hours. You'll have the same students on their two scheduled days, building consistent routines and friendships within each group. What You'd Actually Do
- Host a small group of students in your home during weekday daytime hours

- Keep the environment calm, welcoming, and consistent
- Stay in good communication with Sunny and the families
What Sunny Handles Sunny runs the school side of your pod. You focus on the kids and the in-person experience.
- Certified teachers leading every subject, live online, 2 hours per day Monday through Thursday
- Accredited K to 12 curriculum aligned to state standards
- Daily lesson plans and schedules. Ready to go, no prep required
- Progress tracking and reporting. Grades, assessments, and parent updates
- Guide training and onboarding. Everything you need to run your pod with confidence
- Family enrollment paperwork. Contracts, scholarships, and onboarding all handled
- Tuition collection and payouts. We bill families and pay you directly
- Marketing and student listings. Your pod featured on Sunny's site and ads
- Ongoing Guide community. Monthly meetups, mentor calls, and resources
