At H&R Block, the Director, Marketing Strategy – Consumer Tax leads integrated marketing that drives growth, customer engagement and retention, and business performance across the Consumer Tax organization, including DIY, Assisted, and Virtual. This role partners across Marketing, Product, Retail, Franchise, and Analytics to shape full-funnel marketing plans, align cross-functional priorities, and turn insights into actionable strategies that drive business impact. The Director also leads local marketing and field enablement efforts, ensuring consistent execution across national and local channels. Reporting to senior marketing leadership, this role plays a key part in shaping marketing direction, optimizing performance, and leading high-impact initiatives across the business, while building and developing high-performing teams grounded in collaboration, accountability, and results. Day to Day you’ll… Lead development of integrated, full-funnel marketing plans that align national and local initiatives to Consumer Tax business priorities Drive cross-functional planning and alignment across Creative, Media, CRM, Web, Social, Analytics, Product, Retail, Franchise, and agency partners to ensure cohesive execution across channels Translate consumer, competitive, and business insights into clear strategic direction, priorities, and actionable marketing plans Lead in-season performance management during peak tax periods, partnering with analytics and channel leaders to optimize plans in real time and drive business results. Oversee strategy and execution for high-impact Consumer Tax campaigns throughout the year, including Now Hiring, Software, and Extensions Lead local marketing and field enablement efforts, ensuring field teams are equipped to execute campaigns consistently and effectively across company-owned and franchise locations Partner with Field Leadership to align national initiatives with local market execution and drive adoption across offices Oversee key local marketing programs, platforms, and field-facing tools that strengthen in-market execution, brand presence, and community engagement Establish performance goals, KPIs, and operating rhythms that drive accountability, visibility, and continuous optimization across initiatives Deliver executive-ready updates on performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams across strategy, integrated marketing, and field enablement, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement What you'll bring to the team... Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field 10+ years of experience in marketing strategy, integrated marketing, or go‑to‑market roles, ideally within large‑scale, consumer‑focused or seasonal businesses Proven ability to lead complex, cross‑functional marketing strategies that drive measurable business outcomes Experience partnering with senior Product and/or Retail leaders in a highly matrixed organization Strong analytical and performance management skills, with comfort driving real‑time optimization decisions Demonstrated people leadership experience, including leading managers and developing senior talent Why work for us Since 1955, we have been leaders in tax preparation, financial services, and small business solutions. Pay Range Information The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
