Contract: 12 month- contract with potential to extend Locations: Remote with travel (East Coast preferred) Travel: Monthly travel to DC area (~12 weeks/year) Hours: 40 hours/week
Overview
We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Retail Technology Modernization to support a high-priority initiative. This role will serve as a strategic advisor, helping demonstrate our client’s capability to deliver modernization solutions across postal retail operations. The SME will play a critical role in shaping the approach, building credibility with the customer, and advising both internal leadership and stakeholders on best practices in retail and logistics technology transformation. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence a new and strategic customer relationship, with potential to transition into longer-term, billable program work. Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in
retail or logistics technology modernization
- Experience with high-volume operations (e.g.,
large retail or logistic networks )
- Strong understanding of how
hardware, software, and operational workflows integrate in retail environments
- Ability to
advise and influence senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Proven experience evaluating and improving operational systems and workflows
- Direct experience with RSS, POS terminals, SSKs, mPOS devices, identity verification hardware, Smart or Self-Service Lockers, and MDDs, including configuration, troubleshooting, or deployment.
- Proven ability to analyze and document operational workflows, device usage patterns, and equipment dependencies.
- Experience supporting technology upgrades, equipment rollouts, or large-scale retail modernization efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active security clearance
- Background in logistics, transportation, or large-scale retail operations
- Experience with emerging technologies (automation, IoT, mobile workforce tools)
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence frameworks
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (green card holders).
