Electrical Engineer - Industrial Projects and Field Execution

Position Summary The Electrical Engineer plays a key role in the execution of industrial construction and manufacturing projects, supporting electrical design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts both in the office and on-site. This position is highly collaborative and hands-on, requiring regular travel to project sites to ensure successful implementation of electrical systems and alignment with project goals. This role is integral to building a strong, execution-focused project team and will be actively involved throughout the full project lifecycle - from concept and design through installation and startup.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical system solutions, specifications, and designs for industrial and manufacturing applications
  • Work within quote documentation and budget to schedule, design, and manage the electrical aspects of projects
  • Develop power drawings, one line, three lines, and MCC layouts primarily for 480/360 systems.
  • Develop control and instrumentation drawings including I/O drawings and control panel layouts
  • Submit supply requests and quotations for components, award and manage equipment delivery
  • Develop electrical installation drawings, conduit routings and wire schedules
  • Define Scope of Work for electrical installations, define requests for quotations, evaluate quotations, award subcontracts and manage electrical installations
  • Develop PLC programs and HMI applications for system operation
  • Commission and debug systems during startup
  • Support and develop functional descriptions and operating manuals
  • Create and review electrical schematics, layouts, and installation documentation
  • Support field installation, commissioning, and startup activities at project sites
  • Travel to construction sites and manufacturing facilities to oversee electrical work, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality and compliance
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Sales, Mechanical Engineers, and field teams to support overall project execution
  • Assist in preparing engineering cost estimates, schedules, and project plans
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, contractors, and internal teams as a technical representative
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving support for electrical systems in the field
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance design, installation, and operational efficiency
  • Assist the Sales team with technical input for proposals, including occasional site visits as needed
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with electrical systems installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project sites (including construction and plant environments)
  • Solid understanding of electrical design principles, schematics, and system layouts
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues in real-world settings
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and with clients
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to utilize or learn Autodesk applications including AutoCAD Electrical, Vault, and Inventor.
  • Ability to utilize Rockwell RSLinx, RSLogix, Studio 5000, programming software.
  • BSEE or BSEET with 3 years of experience, alternate degree with demonstrable skills and experience.
  • Knowledge in the following areas and standards a plus: NFPA, NEC

Preferred:

  • Experience working in industrial construction or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with PLCs, controls systems, or automation
  • Experience supporting field installation and startup activities
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC)
  • EIT or PE certification (or interest in pursuing)

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Combination of remote office and field-based work
  • Regular travel to project sites, which may include active construction environments and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to work in industrial settings (including exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and varying environmental conditions)
