Senior Web Copywriter & Strategist (Contract)
CSTMR (pronounced “customer”) is a leading fintech marketing agency serving the high-growth sector of financial services and fintech. We have found great success helping our clients launch, grow, and meet their lofty goals, and we are looking to add an additional well-rounded senior web copywriter and strategist (and an overall good person) to our expanding team—someone with foundational knowledge of digital marketing, a natural passion for transforming complex ideas into engaging copy, a positive can-do outlook with flexibility for strategic shifts when needed, a sense of ownership for client success, and the ability to support content strategy and copywriting for client website projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our Director of Content and Discovery Optimization Manager, along with an experienced team of digital marketers, to drive engagement for our clients through their websites. We envision this as a project-based, contract role to start, with the potential to grow into a part-time position (10-20 hours per week) in the future with the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Every CSTMR website project moves through three content stages, and we want one person supporting them all:
- Client discovery and high-level strategy.
This stage is led by our Director of Content, but you will join them for initial client discovery calls to understand the goals of the client as well as their Ideal Customer Profiles. During this stage, the client brand theme and messaging platform are developed to guide all content, including website copy. This information will be foundational to the next two stages, which you will lead.
- Page strategy.
Before a page gets designed, you will collaborate with our design and development team to build out the scope of each page: what blocks and content elements belong on each page, what each page needs to accomplish, why it earns its place, and how the page moves a specific reader toward a specific action.
- Copywriting execution.
You will then write all copy for each page based on the agreed strategy. This includes initial copywriting aligned with the client brand theme and messaging platform, and typically 2-3 rounds of copy edits based on internal review as well as client feedback. You'll collaborate with our Director of Content throughout the process, but this role is built for someone senior enough to take a project from strategy to execution with minimal direction. You can take internal/external resources and build a positioning doc, develop a page plan, and ship the copy with minimal direction.
Requirements
We are excited to hear about your background, and we hope it includes:
- 7+ years writing professionally, with a clear track record of website copy and strategy work
- Excellent copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills to serve agency clients with a head for B2B content marketing and the ability to adapt for client brand voice and style
- Demonstrated experience writing for regulated industries, ideally financial services or fintech (banks, lenders, insurance, wealth, payments, or adjacent verticals all count)
- Strong instincts for content strategy and information architecture: keyword integration, search-aware briefs, page hierarchy, and how a site reads as a system rather than a collection of pages
- A passion for delivering both on-time and high-quality work, with a proactive approach and a desire to be accountable for achieving client goals
- A collaborative working style: ability to coordinate and communicate effectively and consistently with designers and strategists
Compensation
Per-project fees, structured as a separate strategy fee and copywriting fee per page (from $325 to $650 per page, based on the scale of the deliverable). We'll walk through rate structure and a sample scope in the interview.
