Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Remote Customer Service Representative to join our team in Houston, Texas. As a key member of our customer service team, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support, handling customer inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain current patient information from established and new patients, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Enter and update patient information in our scheduling system, maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring seamless communication.
  • Identify payer sources and verify insurance eligibility, ensuring timely and accurate processing of patient accounts.
  • Assist patients with completion of paperwork when necessary, providing clear and concise guidance and support.
  • Review scheduling systems for needed updated demographics and consent forms, scheduling appointments and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Identify patients by date of birth and name in computer systems, creating new accounts as needed and ensuring accurate patient data.
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments as needed, communicating effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service skills, providing timely and polite responses to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional manner.
  • Answer telephone calls in a timely and polite manner, preferably within three rings, and communicate with customers in a courteous, professional, cooperative, and mature manner.
  • Take messages and convey accurate information to recipients, ensuring seamless communication and follow-up.
  • Transfer calls to physicians and nurses when medically indicated, prioritizing patient care and safety.
  • Protect and observe patient confidentiality per policies and procedures, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Import registration documents into patient electronic health records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Follow up on outstanding A/R, including self-pay and denials, to achieve maximum payment and client profitability.
  • Handle all correspondence related to insurance or patient accounts, contacting insurance carriers, patients, and other facilities as needed to resolve issues and achieve client profitability.
  • Work EDI transactions and ERA files, including reconciling carrier submissions, edits, and rejection reports, to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient accounts.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a focus on customer service, healthcare, or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in customer service, healthcare, or a related field, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service and support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues and provide timely and effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in computer software and systems, including scheduling systems, electronic health records, and other relevant tools.
  • A strong commitment to patient confidentiality and data security, with the ability to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • A degree in healthcare, customer service, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, with a focus on customer service and patient care.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and policies, including HIPAA and other relevant standards.
  • Experience working with electronic health records and other relevant software systems.
  • Fluency in multiple languages, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers from diverse backgrounds.
