Responsibilities

As a Billing Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for:

  • Reviewing patient claims on an individual basis, investigating and managing all credits, refunds, and payments to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
  • Managing the billing hotline, providing exceptional support to patients who reach out to us via this channel, and ensuring that their concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Making outbound soft calls to patients to confirm receipt of invoices, respond to questions, and make reasonable efforts to collect amounts based on the patient's individual financial situation.
  • Providing exceptional customer service through clear and empathetic communication with patients, internal team members, and clients via telephone and in writing.
  • Managing and utilizing time effectively to ensure the department meets required service levels for improved patient care, while also assisting others within the unit to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications

To succeed as a Billing Customer Service Representative, you'll need:

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in working with patients on bill resolution.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook and Excel, with the ability to learn and adapt to new software and systems.
  • A positive and sympathetic approach to patients with Substance Use Disorders, demonstrating understanding and empathy in their current situation.

Desired Experience

While not required, experience in the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Making outbound "soft" collection calls to patients related to their bills.
  • Handling difficult patients who reach out to resolve their balances.
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of patient financial situations and developing creative solutions to address their needs.
