Job Summary

As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for executing a variety of clerical duties and resolving customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner. Your primary duties will include:

  • Responding to customer inquiries and resolving complaints concerning utility bills
  • Receiving, opening, and processing mail
  • Processing customer utility payments through cash registers
  • Balancing cash register and cash boxes daily
  • Processing and preparing accounts for utility billing
  • Taking requests for letters of credit
  • Maintaining landlord and rental property files
  • Maintaining active utility files
  • Interviewing the public on matters requiring the interpretation of office policies and procedures
  • Processing customer applications for utility services
  • Performing related duties as required

Key Responsibilities

* Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving complaints in a timely and professional manner

  • Process customer utility payments, balancing cash registers and cash boxes daily
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare accounts for utility billing
  • Process customer applications for utility services, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate
  • Communicate effectively with customers, both in-person and over the phone
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform related duties as required, including data entry and filing

Essential Qualifications

* High school education or equivalent required

  • Experience in clerical work involving considerable contact with the public and handling money is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to learn clerical tasks readily and adhere to office routine
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with office policies and regulations
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience in a customer service or clerical role

  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
